Rain or shine Swords to Plowshares knows how to throw a party. For the first time in STP history we extended our Veterans Day celebration into the weekend with the addition to the first Iraq Veteran Project and Vets 4 Vets concert at the Ramp Restaurant in San Francisco. The event brought awareness to the Iraq Veteran Projects efforts to support OEF and OIF veterans. The Hash House Harriers came out and ran with Vets4Vets in and around the Ramp. Jeremy Brigham a former Oakland Raider helped our MC, Matty from the Alice morning show, work the crowd and introduce our bands. The rain came down but it didn’t stop anyone from dancing up a storm to the punk antics of the P-Cows. Mike Ergo from Vets4Vets and Shannon Kissinger of IVP boogied down to the indie rock of The Federalists. Finally, Radioactive brought down the house with the dope beats to close the evening. Fun was had by all with about 70 guests, both young and old, lots of rain, and plenty of refreshments. Hope to do it again soon!!!

Swords to Plowshares’ 11th Annual Veterans Day Dinner, Profiles of Courage, was a resounding success! We had a wonderful celebration and tribute to our veterans and countless supporters. Thanks to all the staff and clients who volunteered their time. The dinner would not have been so great without your tremendous effort and hard work. Swords was honored to award Profiles of Courage to Robert Scott, Scott Kehler, and the Bay Area Chapter of Vets 4 Vets. This award is a tribute that we wish to give all veterans for their courage and sacrifice, and illustrates how thankful we are for the veterans we work with everyday.
