Vets who come to us for help are not looking for a handout. They’re typically leaving the military with technical skills that far surpass those of people their age in the private sector. Take, for example, a 24 year old veteran who has three years of battlefield experience supervising other soldiers. When he returns to civilian life, he often finds himself unable to get his foot in the door for basic jobs he’s highly overqualified for.

This is something most vets never expect. Some vets may be entering the work force for the first time, and may not be adept at explaining their military skills to civilian employers, and others are finding that lack of a college degree is causing a problem.
