Jason Elliott is a policy expert on a wide range of issues including housing, tech and AI, state and local budgeting, business regulation, and land use. Prior to founding his own consulting firm in July 2024, Jason worked for Governor Gavin Newsom. Jason was Governor Newsom’s Deputy Chief of Staff, a position in which Jason advised the Governor on a variety of policy issues and matters of state operations. For several years through the COVID pandemic, he led the Administration’s agenda on housing and homelessness. Prior to his work at the state level, he worked in the San Francisco Mayor’s Office for nearly a decade. He served as Chief of Staff to San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee, a position he held for Mayor London Breed after Mayor Lee's untimely passing. Jason also held a variety of positions prior to being Chief of Staff, including two years in Gavin Newsom’s administration as Mayor’s Policy Advisor from 2008 to 2010. Originally from Palo Alto, CA, Jason is a graduate of Columbia University and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He lives with his wife, Nicole and their two young children.
