Providing veteran services can be difficult and potentially demanding. Most providers operate in non-profit or government offices that have limited capacity and pay less than private workplaces. Further, staff may be exposed to trauma as well as secondary traumatization. Make sure that your organization prioritizes staff supports and burnout prevention. Staff must have access to employee wellness resources, cultural humility and sensitivity training, and leadership-led initiatives in respect, supportive supervision, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
